Team name and update!

Beth -
So....we have had an entire blog disapear from last week. I don't know where it went but I will try to remember most of it and repost it :)

ANYWAY!!! We came up with a team name or rather we came up with 3 of them!  Help us pick which one is the best:

The In Love Handles (because we are in love and have love handles lol)
The Flab-U-Less Duo
The Chubby Hubby & Wife to Be

Who knows maybe you guys won't like any of them but we do!

Our camera is MIA, we had to send it off to get fixed by the company. That is why you havne't seen any weigh in or gym pics lately.  We should have it back this week or next!

Brian and I are both still on a plataeu :(  We know if we just keep pushing through it we will make it. It's just frustrating being stuck at the same place even though we are trying so hard in the gym!

Well, I guess that is all for now. i will try to go find that other blog and see if i saved it on my computer!

Another weigh in down!

Brian -

Well we did it! Another loss for the books, albiet a small one!  I don't care though. I just like watching the numbers go down ;)

I have a question, Why is the urge to pull in McDonalds not lessening AT ALL!  I want a double cheeseburger dang it!  Actually,I want alot of things. I better stop now or it will be even harder not to pull in there on my way to Subway at lunch. Which brings me to the next question, Why in the world are Subway and McDonalds RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER!!!  This isn't fair. I'm trying to be good, I'm on my way to Subway and then it's like they have to tempt me just one more time to fall off the wagon. Do I turn left or do I turn right?  I have litterly turned into McDonalds while having a weak moment and then drove around the parking lot and back over to Subway!  Am I crazy!!!  Enough of that!

So, I hope everyone has a great week!  We need to get to the gym more that's for sure. Maybe we'll go tonight. Everyone hang in there!

1 Month Weigh In!

Beth -

We are absolutely 100% shocked! Not by this week’s weight loss seeing as it wasn't the greatest but from looking at what we did in only 1 month! This week Brian lost 1.6 pounds and I lost 3 lbs. Over the last month I have lost 18.4 lbs and Brian has lost 20.2 lbs for a team total of 38.6 lbs! To me that is Amazing!  I never would have guessed we could do that. What upsets me though is I know we could have done better. There were things we ate that we shouldn't have but I know we are going to slip up and we just have to watch it.  What does make me happy though is seeing that our BMI's dropped too.  I managed to lower my BMI by 3.3 points and Brian lowered his by 2.7 points!  I'm averaging right over 4.5 lbs per week which would get me to my goal of 160 by my wedding with time to spare! I just have to keep my head in the game and my hands away from my mouth! :)

Day before weigh in!

Beth -

Well, today is the day before weigh in! You know what that means...last chance workout!  Of course I'm sure our last chance workout is nothing compared to what Jillian or Bob would put us through, but we will make it hard!  I've gotten in a bad habit and so has Brian of weighing ourselves constantly. I need to stop because it is bringing me down. My weight varies so much day to day or even hour to hour that I get mad and down on myself. I think I need to hide my scale or give it to my neighbor for the week so I won't be tempted. At least hiding my scale isn't as bad as taking the cake out of the trash and then having to shove it down the disposal! LOL  Let's keep out fingers crossed that there is a loss this week!

Day 23 - Happy B-day to my daddy! He's "double nickels" today LOL

Beth -

Ok, so I have come to the conclusion that Oatmeal with a little Splenda Brown Sugar is the thing I should be eating every morning! It's is 2 o'clock in the afternoon and I have been so energetic all day long~!

Weigh in is tomorrow morning. I am honestly a little worried this week. I haven't done that bad but I definitely had my off moments. I just fall off the wagon so easy! I am proud to announce that I have had a 100% day today though! We are doing our last chance workouts at the gym tonight. I still hurt pretty badly from Monday's workout. The guy at the gym who writes the workouts made mine way to hard and of course I tried to do it all because “you don’t want to short change yourself” (That’s what I kept telling myself) He wrote a workout for a body builder not an obese women! My thighs are killing me but I’m going to push through it.  I have even convinced my best friend Natalie to come with us tonight! She might even join.  It would be great to have someone else with me.

OH, I think I have also convinced Brian to try skiing with me this weekend! This should be interesting! LOL I'll keep you posted!

I think that is it…I’m so proud of my friends Gayle and Stephanie who were featured on Biggest Loser last night. Gayle was my first “weight loss friend” on myspace a long long time ago. YOU GO GIRLS!

Day 22 on "my journey"

Ok, First off be sure to click on the play button on the picture. It's not our voices but its still funny LOL  I figured if I can't eat candy I might as well be surrounded by it in a dream world!

Brian outed me on my cake story so I guess I have to tell. Well...Remember the *&%$ cake from last weeked well, last week I got into it. It was easy to stay out when I knew we were saving it for his mom but then she decided she didn't want it either. She decided to start her own "battle of the buldge." Congrats to her but trouble for me! At lunch I litterely picked the last of the cake up and started to eat it. One bite in and I threw it back in the box and into the trash can. Now when I got home from work I tried to get said box out of the trash to eat the cake! Now how GROSS is that! Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess! I realized how disgusting that was and I shoved it down the garbage disposal or as I like to call it the InSinkErator (why do they call it that?) So there is my embarassing story about the cake. It just proves that no matter how well you are doing there are always temptations. I HATE IT!!!

Beggining of Week 3 - Or Day 21!

So, here is how we are going to start keeping track of who is writing! I (Brian, if you couldn't tell by the stunning avatar) am trying out what my new body will be like shortly.

Ok, so now on to weight loss talk. We have a hard time staying on track 100% of the time. Atleast we are exercising alot and I mean ALOT! I think that is how we are still loosing. Beth has a funny story about some cake she almost ate. Make sure to ask her about it. Actually I will. HEY BETH!! Why don't you tell your story about you low will power to the rest of the world? Ok, hopefully she will read this. Also, if anyone knows, could you please tell me how much water I am supposed to be drinking? Beth has be drinking like 4 bathtubs full every day! Why does loosing weight have to be so hard?!?

Good and Bad

Beth -

Well, I wasn't all good this weekend either. The worst part is I wasn't drinking my water like I should and I didn't go exercise on Saturday OR Sunday. I need to get my act together. I get so upset at myself! You would think if I was going to be this hard on myself I would just DO IT!  I think I am my biggest enemy. I am feeling better in my jeans since they aren't as tight anymore. Since I feel good in them I think...awe...I can eat this or that. Then as soon as I do I'm bloated and my pants are tight. Then I'm made at myself. Why can't I just be happy with the fact that my jeans feel good and keep doing things right?! On the bright side I did meet my first Mini-Goal!!! Brian met his too! So...to celebrate what do you think we did? We went out to eat! We have to learn to stop rewarding ourselves with food. We need to look at food as something we need to live not something that is a reward. So...My goals for this week are to drink more water, eat right, and exercise everyday this week~!

Brian -

Like Beth said...we weren't good at all. I don't know why we treat food like this. Our kids even are begging to go out to eat. Our bad habits have been passed on and they are still SOOO young! We have to make sure that all of our attitudes change towards food. I have set a few goals for myself this week. I need to eat better at lunch is the first one. I have a hard time staying on the wagon when I'm out to lunch with the guys from work. It's harder to do when you don't have your support around you. I also need to drink water. I'm not drinking very much at all and Beth swears it will help so I'm going to have to try.

Our Dear Lord this Weekend was BAD!!!

Beth

Where or where do I start. Let me name the things that went wrong the last few days. First off, I knew this would be an up hill battle. What I didn't know was that there wouldn't be any warmup before the hill began. I figured the first month or so would be easy and I wouldn't be tempted...Well...THAT'S JUST NOT THE CASE! So Brian and I had these Wedding cake tastings today. I didn't realize they were going to send home entire 6in round cakes that serve like 8 people! Even after being in the cake the entire weekend there is still some left. Let me share with you exactly HOW I fell COMPLTELY OFF the wagon this weekend!

Jan. 12th

*WARNING - Disaster ahead...NO..I mean it...DISASTER!

Breakfast: None (Mistake #1)

AM Snack: Cake Tasting #1 - Strawberry with Cream Cheese Filling and White Chocolate Fondant Iceing AND White with Raspberry Filling and White Chocolate Fondant Iceing. Then she sends us home with tons of it!

Lunch: 6oz Sirloin Steak, Broccoli, Salad with Ranch, and ROLLS (my worst enemy!)

PM Snack: Cake Tasting #2 - White and Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Iceing

Supper: Ate More of Above cake....seriously I'm not joking..I told you it was BAD

Late night snack: Bowl of Multi Grain Cheerios

Water: 10 oz...maybe!

Jan. 13th

*Agian, if you are faint of heart don't read! It's BAD!

Breakfast: Couple of bites of that cake from yesterday

AM Snack: None

Lunch: (We went to the Colts vs. Chargers game) 1/2 Hot dog, 1/2 Nachos with meat and all the good stuff, 1 piece pizza and Sprite..not Diet

PM Snack: None but then agian, did I really need it after all the above mentioned food!

Supper: (Still downtown at the game) P.F. Changs Mongolian Beef and Lettuce Wraps.

Late Night Snack: Remember that Cake? Yeah...Don't ask!

Total Water: No Clue!

Needless to say I need to go to the gym...for about 10 hours! That stupid cake is still in my fridge and I swear I am throwing it out as soon as I get home. No, I'm not just throwing it out I'm going to put it down the Garbage Disposal because if I don't...me or Brian one will be in the trash trying to eat it!

Jan. 11th - The day after! Beth

Beth

So as most of you know I had the dreaded "real world challenge" last night lol  I was scared but I go through it. I even took my own spray butter with me lol So here is what I ate:

1 Roll (160 calories 9g fat)
Salad w/ light dressing (148 calories 10g fat)
Rock Lobster Tail (190 calories 6g fat)
Broccoli (54 calories 0g fat)
Total: 552 calories 25g fat

So I don't think I did to bad. I got online and looked around before going so I could figure out something not SOOOO bad to eat. I didn't want to deprive myself so I had 1 roll. It could have been worse. I didnt' really exercise yesterday though. I'm going to the gym tonight though!

So, now on to my next issue which is kind of 2 in 1. As most of us are I am an emotional eater...BIG TIME!  Erin (Brian's sister) and her hubby and baby (Cayden) are flying out to Flagstaff Arizona today. They have to move for his job. As I said goodbye last night I tried to hold myself together but I lost it when I got in the car. On and off since then I have been crying. I just don't want to dive into the cookies like I normally would. I'm going to miss them more than I can say. Second, Brian and I have TWO cake tastings tomorrow for the wedding. This isn't something that we can just skip we HAVE to do it. Agian, I am afraid I'll over do it. So...wish me luck!

Brian told me to write in here for him tonight too. He says he enjoyed his like 2,000 calorie meal for his birthday! He won't be laughing when I beat him at weigh in this week :)

Jan. 10 - 1st Weigh In! Beth & Brian

Beth
First off....I went to the party last night.....and didn't eat a thing!!!!!!! :) WAHOO! Victory number 2 for the day yesterday lol.

Now on to the good stuff :) On January 2nd I started my plan 100% agian with a weigh in of 255.6lbs     This morning my weigh in is 245  = 10.6 lbs in 8 days :) I can't believe it :)  I'm so happy I'm about to burst :)  Brian is doing really well too.  It is SO much easier now that he has become dedicated to getting healthy. We are both in such better moods to. It's amazing! So....wonder how I'm going to do tonight at Red Lobster? I think I'm going to go to the gym at lunch agian....I'm going to need it lol

Brian

Well, it's our first weigh in. I am down 11 pounds from the 1st of the month. Beth struggles a lot more with not eating something than I do. She says it is because I'm a guy. LOL  It also makes her mad that I can eat more and still lose more than her. We're doing it though! If we keep up this rate we will weigh like 5 pounds at the end of the year!

Beth Jan. 9th 1:11pm (I had to move this in with this blog so I could make my exercise log :)

So, I just got back from taking my lunch hour to exercise ;)  I am still in shock that I actually went! Even after I was in the locker room I wanted to leave so bad! It's TOM and I am retaining water SOOOO bad. I can see my sock lines in my ankles and if I push on my shin my thumbprint stays (pitting adema) Should I cut back on my water intake?

I'm going to a jewlery party tonight. Sure, it sounds boring enough but in reality I know what awaits me...cheeseball and cupcakes and many many other things I need to run from. Honestly, I am scared to go because I'm not sure my will power will save me. Then tomorrow is Brian's family b-day party and we are going to....Red Lobster!  COME ON! I mean I know I can make healthy choices just about anywhere but the healthy stuff isn't what I want! I want those rolls and some shrimp alfredo! GRRR! So, once agian, this is the exact reason why I HAD to go to the gym this afternoon. I think I'll drink ALOT of water before I go either place...then it will be easier not to eat it...come to think of it, I used to eat when I was full all the time, so what's going to stop me now?!?!?! Lord help me!

Exercise Log....exactly how do we move it move it?

We have also decided to log our exercise! So...if you wondering how we move it move it to shake off these pounds..now you can find out!

We went to the Colts game. Does walking 6 blocks to the Dome and then up 1 million steps count? Actually I counted them it was 78 steps up to the entrance of the Dome and then 60 steps to our floor and then 44 steps to our seats. So I did 364 Steps and 12 block walk...Actually not bad but looking at what I ate I'm highly doubting it will matter!

Day 4 & Begining Measurments!

Well, it's now day 4 on our journey! We haven't been perfect but we haven't caved to temptation yet either. I know it will happen though but hopefully not for a while!

We've managed to stick to our daily goals of getting some kind of exercise, drinking water, and eating breakfast. Breakfast has probably been one of the toughest things. Neither one of us use to eat breakfast ever! We have been getting up at 5:40am to workout and then while Brian is in the shower I make an egg white omelet with some cheese. I think most of our issue is that neither one of us wanted to get up early enough to make breakfast. I never realized how much just eating breakfast could really change us. We both feel a lot more energetic and just awake already and it's only been four days! It's just so HARD to get out of bed that early! Once we are up though we are o.k. We just can't wait to see the difference on the scale!

So, last night we decided to take our begining measurements so we would could see how far we have come:

Brian:                    Beth:
Neck - 19.5 in             Neck - 15.25 in
Chest - 52.5 in            Chest - 48 in

Thigh - 29 in              Thigh - 31.5 in

Our Reason!

Brian & Beth – Our Reason!

We are Brian & Beth & we live in Indianapolis Indiana with our two children, Nick who is almost 5 and Riley who is 3. Brian currently weighs 321.8 lbs and is looking to loose 101.8 lbs! Beth currently weighs 255.6 lbs and is looking to loose 95.6 lbs equaling a total combined weight loss goal of 197.4 lbs!! We have made up our minds that it is time to stop being fat and start being FIT! We have joined this journey to be more active in our children’s lives and to stop being the “fat parents.” Throughout this long winding journey, we will learn how to live life in a healthy way so we can pass those habits on to our children so they don’t suffer as we have from obesity. We have set up our “goal list” (or plan) and have made sure to set aside the daily time to accomplish each goal—one step, one lunge, and one crunch at a time. Brian hates to cook so Beth will manage food for him. Beth hates waking up so Brian will push her out of bed! We will support each other each step of the way. We can’t fail if we don’t give up! We were great enablers for each other so now we just have to redirect that interaction. We have 100% devoted ourselves to changing our lives. We should win this to show others that anyone can do this. We have both ALWAYS been heavy, and if we can do it…so can you! We want to inspire others like we have been inspired by those on The Biggest Loser! We want to succeed and we will as long as we remember, slow and steady wins the race!

We are ready to LOSE in order to WIN!!!
